The textile district of Prato is distinguishing itself on the European stage for its dedication to recycling and reuse<\/span><\/h4>

At the heart of this effort, the Democratic Party (PD) is working to facilitate dialogue among economic sectors, unions, stakeholders, local administrators, and European parliamentarians to develop a common strategy. “The development of the textile sector is a game primarily played at the European level: ecological transition, transparency, and innovation are the cornerstones of change,” says Marco Biagioni, Secretary of the PD Prato.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Recently, the PD organized a visit to the district for MEP Camilla Laureti to delve into the themes of reuse and recycling. The visit, which included a stop at the Gemar & Figli company in Montemurlo, associated with the Corertex consortium for reuse and recycling, provided the Honorable Laureti with the opportunity to directly observe the initial phase of Prato’s recycling model: the sorting of used clothing.<\/span><\/p>

“Every opportunity for dialogue on reuse and recycling is fundamental,” underline Raffaello De Salvo and Fabio Marseo, President and Vice President of the Corertex consortium.<\/span><\/p>

During the meeting, concerns regarding the establishment of the future consortium of producers, challenges of future collection and recovery centers, and the need to promote the circular economy were some of the topics discussed. Furthermore, the absurdity of having to pay VAT twice on used clothing was highlighted.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

“Over the years, we have developed a deep understanding of reuse and recycling practices that may be in some way restricted or disadvantaged by possible regulatory misunderstandings. That’s why we will continue to promote discussion and engagement among all stakeholders so that the textile district becomes a European leader in the circular economy,” says Alessio Pietrolungo, responsible for Ecological Transition in PD Prato.<\/span><\/p>

The coming weeks will be decisive for the textile district. The European Parliament will have to approve a series of regulations concerning reuse, recycling, ecodesign, and the circular economy. Given these imminent deadlines, the meeting with Laureti takes on even greater significance.<\/span><\/p>

During the visit, Laureti took note of the concerns and specific needs of the Prato textile district, pledging to be a spokesperson in Europe. “We are confident that Laureti will voice the priorities of our district in Europe,” conclude De Salvo and Marseo, expressing optimism for the future of Prato’s textile sector.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
