The Consortium for textile reuse and recycling, Corertex, reaffirms its commitment to the field of circular economy through constructive dialogue with the Tuscany Region and the development of concrete proposals.<\/span><\/h4>

As mentioned in a recent news article, Corertex President, Raffaello De Salvo, participated in a hearing before the Fourth Commission of the Region, focused on the environment and the regional waste plan.<\/span><\/p>

During the hearing, De Salvo provided a detailed overview of the Consortium’s work and the Prato district, stating, “I had the opportunity to present the work of the consortium and the Prato district from all angles, and how we can transform textile waste into a valuable resource for the circular economy, with all the environmental and economic benefits that come with it.”<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Among the proposals put forward is the launch of a joint awareness campaign on best practices for textile waste disposal. The goal is to raise awareness among the public, starting with schools, about proper recycling and sustainable clothing purchases.<\/span><\/p>

De Salvo emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “The idea is to help the new generations, in particular, understand the real importance to the community of proper textile waste disposal and the right awareness when purchasing clothing sustainably.”<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The President of Corertex then renewed the appeal to European policymakers, emphasizing the urgency of revising the European Parliament’s latest resolution on textile waste. He stated, “Reading in the European text that there is no profitable business model associated with separate collection and processing of textile waste within the Union completely disregards what the Prato Model represents in Italy, Europe, and the world. This consideration is entirely incorrect and unfounded because a profitable and functional business model for textile waste management in Europe has existed and been productive since 1850 in the Prato textile district.”<\/span><\/p>

Therefore, the Corertex Consortium reiterates the need for a vigilant and proactive policy to support the textile reuse and recycling sector, highlighting the importance of valorizing the Prato model in the European context.
