Corertex raises alarm: Prato\u2019s textile district at risk due to new EPR draft<\/h4>

The Corertex Consortium, a national leader in textile reuse and recycling, expresses deep concern over the latest draft of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) decree for textiles, currently under discussion by the Ministry of the Environment. According to the Consortium, the proposed changes could severely impact the future of Prato\u2019s textile district, one of Europe\u2019s main textile hubs.<\/p>

The new provisions appear to favor centralized management models, overlooking the specificities and strengths of the Prato system, which relies on a network of small and medium-sized enterprises highly specialized in reuse and recycling. This approach risks undermining a sector that has made sustainability and circular economy its cornerstones<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cPrato\u2019s district is a virtuous example of circular economy, with an integrated supply chain that enhances every stage of the textile material recovery and transformation process,\u201d says Raffaello De Salvo, president of Corertex. \u201cThe proposed new rules do not consider this reality and could lead to the loss of thousands of jobs, as well as jeopardize years of investment in innovation and sustainability.\u201d<\/p>
