October 10, 2023European Protocol: Towards ‘Smart Cities’ by 2030
European Protocol: Towards ‘Smart Cities’ by 2030 The survey aimed at assessing the sustainability of the Prato district is generating significant interest among local businesses. In the short period since its introduction, thirty companies have already completed the detailed questionnaire consisting of 26 environmental questions. The survey is part of a broader initiative aimed at guiding the Municipality of Prato towards the goal of achieving zero climate impact by 2030, as outlined in the European Protocol on ‘Smart Cities.’
“The current commitment is undeniably focused on sustainability; however, identifying tangible and effective solutions poses a challenge,” says Lohengrin Becagli, CEO of Anter. “That’s why we have decided to collaborate with the Municipality, first in assessing the current situation of district businesses. Subsequently, we aspire to provide meaningful input for European-level discussions. Our district has the potential to be a pioneer in offering ideas, projects, and solutions to achieve the goal of zero climate impact by 2030.”

Among the companies that have already participated in the initiative are NWG, TT Tecnosistemi, and those associated with Corertex, the consortium dedicated to textile reuse and recycling. The questionnaire, developed in collaboration with Reteclima, covers a variety of topics, ranging from the company’s financial data, environmental certifications, implemented sustainability models, employee well-being, and responsible consumption.
“The Municipality of Prato and the district as a whole have always shown great initiative when it comes to environmental sustainability,” comments Matteo Biffoni, Mayor of Prato.
Raffaello De Salvo, President of Corertex, adds: “When it comes to collaboration and teamwork, we are always ready to act. We are currently discussing with Anter the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding focused on energy sustainability and the circular economy.”
